Taverna 3. 8 - Order Online - 8. Photos & 4. 6 Reviews - Bars - 3. Hillside Ave - Williston Park, NY - Phone Number - Menu. A true fine dining restaurant with a comfortable, casual feel, I was very impressed with every part of my meal, starting with my cocktail, the Hillsider- was refreshing and smooth, to the authentic Greek desserts prepared with a modern flare. Most of our party had the halibut, which was listed as a special that night. Luckily, the portions were not overwhelming and I was able to sample all the appetizers we ordered (grilled calamari, tzatziki sauce, hummus, melitzanosalata, and spanakopita) beforehand. Food was cold and really poor quality. We ordered the burger medium rare which it was far from. The bun was backyard- BBQ- at- a- frat- party quality. Taverna Grillost er velegnet til pandestegning. The mousaka (which was the last to arrive) was cold in the center. The potatoes with the fish were inedible Finally, no one ever offered another beer after I finished mine. Very poor experience. Will not be going back. Not big on leaving reviews, but it was such a pleasant dinner, our daugher insisted we leave a review. Went there Saturday night (7/3. NY Times. Excellent rating in their review. We had a little trepidation since we went in without reservations and could not be seated at a table. One of the young owners suggested we go to the bar and we would be very comfortable. We wanted to try the food so we submitted to the suggestion although we really normally don't like to eat at the bar. We couldn't have been more wrong. The bartender gave us great suggestions on the menu and suggestef delicious drinks, which were great. We had crab cakes and a wonderful salad Delicious fresh shrimp, yummy octopus. Delicious Greek Olive cake dessert. The owners were very Interactive, checked on us and thanked us when we left. He made the ladies drink as we waited for the rest of our party. He suggested and made Martinis for the girls. He then served us and made suggestions on what to order. Book now at Taverna - Maui in Kapalua, explore menu, see photos and read 101 reviews. The food, ambience and service were amazing. Thank you to George for making dinner/celebration wonderful!!! THIS REVIEW RELATES TO XARELLO, THE FORMER OCCUPANT OF THIS SPACE. IT HAS NO RELEVANCE WITH REGARD TO THE MERITS OF THIS RESTAURANT. High expectations are an awful burden. As a former over- privileged and under- competent recent former American president once observed, it is far,far better to be . As a tip, parking can be tough to find on Hillside Avenue in Williston Park. Nassau Boulevard is almost directly perpendicular to this restaurant. If you are heading west on Hillside Avenue, make a left turn and you will find a public parking lot. Xarello has a pleasant decor. It is very suitable for large groups. The restaurant seated our group in a large area across from the bar. Tables are not situated too closely and it was easy to converse. Upon arrival, I ordered a Vodka Martini. It was strong and tasty. Our group was seated and orders were taken. Our appetizers and entrees arrived on a timely basis. Except for a lapse in service prior to our dessert order when we could not find the waiter, service was excellent. Among the dishes ordered were Crab Cakes, the Greek Burger & Fries, Scallops, Grilled Octopus, Duck, Skirt Steak, Strip Steak, Cauliflower Soup, Lamb Shank, Pork Chop, Scallops and Paella. The Burger and Duck drew some good comments but they, and the other dishes, did not stand out in any regard. My Cauliflower Soup was underseasoned and tasted diluted. My tongue searched in vain for rich cauliflower flavor. My Strip Steak, was mediocre and uninspired. Though cooked medium rare as I requested, it lacked a crisp crust, which a first rate steak requires. One diner said that the Lamb Shank had an unpleasantly sweet sauce. Another stated that her Pork Chop was overcooked. I cannot fail to mention that the restaurant was very generous to our group, providing multiple dishes of complimentary vegetables and a free order of Greek Cheese Cake for our group to sample. With regard to dessert, I enjoyed my Homemade Ice Cream. With the exception of the Olive Oil Cake, the other desserts did not provoke favorable comments. Since this restaurant is pretty new, I wish the owners well since they were nice to our group. In this regard, since this review tends to diverge from the majority opinion, I urge anyone reading this to take those other opinions into account, try Xarello and form your own opinion. Two words - Greek Cheesecake. Quality is good but this isn't a place that is able to charge a certain amount and get away with smaller portions because of the decor inside. I've been to many high end restaurants and I don't mind the pricing as long as the food matches. This, unfortunately, did not. Discovered this gem in lovely Williston Park with a group of friends. I noticed they are primed for New Year's Eve with a retractable screen set up in the back room for viewing the ball drop. Price of food for quality is not equal. Outrageous. Once again, an awesome experience at the reopened Taverna 3. From the appetizers to the dessert, you couldn't ask for better Greek food. We started with tzatziki, hummus and eggplant with pita, spanakopita and grilled calamari. The calamari was super tender and delicious. Most of our party ordered either the salmon or the halibut special. The halibut was perfectly cooked, served over a bed of spinach- really nice and flavorful. We ordered an array of desserts that we shared (5 in total). The baklava was probably the best I've had. Drinks were a must- I had the Hillsider, expertly crafted and unique. To top it off, the owners are absolutely amazing people and the warm atmosphere of their restaurant reflects that. The new decor is bright and beautiful. Our party of 8 had an amazing time with service that was excellent and food that can't be beat. Our mistake was probably to go to dinner there on the day that The New York Times gave it an excellent review. We get to Taverna 3. He tells us to sit at a table for 4 and then he realizes that we are only 2 so he asks us to get up and move to a smaller table. He moved us to a cramped table for 4 at the rear of the room because we didn't want to sit at a small table for 2. The waiter takes our order (lamb chops- one order with lemon potatoes and the other order with spinach rice). We also ordered a beat salad and grilled octopus for appetizer. I had a sangria and my friend had a diet soda. The appetizers were very good. The sangria was very light.. The 2 orders of lamb chops came out. One came out with French fries instead of lemon potatoes. Both orders of lamb chop were raw. They took the lamb chops back to cook them and they gave us an order of lemon potatoes. The lemon potatoes were terrible. Mostly in oil, not much lemon. The second time around the lamb chops were good. The waiter never came back to ask my friend if she wanted a refill. She had to motion the bus boy to come over to ask for another drink. There was a couple that came and send next to us and they were told about the specials.. We were not asked initially how we wanted the lamb chops to be cooked. Definitely amateurs without a sense of providing good customer service. All in all it was a disappointing experience. They better get their act together if they want to survive in Williston Park. Definitely not a Greek welcoming feel. This place is great! I dined here for the first time last night, and the food was great!! We had a bunch of apps and everything was delicious. The only things I didn't love was the bartender (no personality) and the galaktoboureko needs work. We will be back! Amazing.. Fantastic food and fantastic service.. Was one of the best dining experiences we have had in years. Will be recommending to. Everyone. My husband (who is a chef) thought it was fantastic as well. We had a dinner for 4 on a Friday night. Food was average at best and certainly overpriced. Very nice wait staff who really tries to serve well. Comfortable seating, and they will let you stay as long as you like when dinner is finished. Won't be back as there are better Greek takeouts nearby. Awesome restaurant. These guys just opened up and playing it cool. Their menu is unique and diverse. I really like the cabbage salad and their burger. I think they plan on changing around the menu every few months which is a really cool idea. Definitely excited for these guys. Love Xarello, wow! Great addition to the bustling Hillside Ave and steps away from the East Williston LIRR stop. Came here for dinner to try the skirt steak and agnolotti as recommended by a friend. Not a single regret licking that plate clean!! Cocktail selection was amazing! All are made with fresh juices, syrups and fruit pur. Great wines by the glass as well. Can we also talk about the brownie and orange flan dessert! I woke up the next day craving that chocolatey and nutty brownie goodness.. Definitely coming back to celebrate an upcoming birthday!
